Climate Tracker
Methodology
Where the tracker's data comes from, and what is, and is not, done to it.
- 1
Copied as published
The tracker copies datasets from public scientific sources and shows them as published. We do not adjust, smooth, fill gaps in, or forecast the values.
- 2
Credited every time
Each chart names its publisher, links to the source file, and states the licence and the attribution the publisher asks for.
- 3
Checked before it is stored
Files are checked automatically on a schedule. A file that fails to download, or no longer matches the layout the publisher documents, is not stored, so the last good copy stays up until the problem is looked at.
- 4
Published by a person
A dataset appears on the site only after a person has confirmed its source and licence.
Any future projections will come from published scenarios, labelled with their source and the scenario they assume. They will not be our own forecasts.
